Agenda
Introductions. (15 min)Sharing, for one minute around the circle, your reflections about your relationship
to the question of women’s empowerment. (See attached bios for more professional details on each participant.)
Context Setting. (30 min)Jim will share his experience of the women and their families in Tres Cruces, Guatemala,
then set the context for this Clarity Forum.
Questions. (135 min)In a series of three questions, we want to explore in this forum whether we should study
the potential global impacts of microcredit on the empowerment of 100’s of millions of the poorest women.
We will take a few minutes to reflect quietly on a question, then hear each participant’s perspective, and then
open up to dialog.
- Should we assess the level of empowerment of a woman, especially as it relates to microcredit?
- Can we assess the interior state of the level of empowerment of a woman, especially across so many
- ethno-linguistic communities?
- How do we assess her level of empowerment?
Next Steps.(30 min) Is there interest in continuing this forum? How might we organize ourselves?
